# Setting Up Nodes ## The mainframe (first computer) 1. Craft a computer + modem. Optionally attach a monitor. 2. Run: wget run https://cc.28n.lol/i 3. Reboot. The first-boot wizard runs because no node.cfg exists. 4. Press a key within 8s, pick role "mainframe", give it a name and facility, accept or type shared cluster tokens. 5. It reboots into the desktop. Done — the ops screen is live. ## Every other computer Two ways: A) Remote adoption (recommended) - Install FactoryOS on the new computer, let it boot unclaimed. - On the main screen: NODES -> select the UNCLAIMED row -> ADOPT -> pick a role (switch, controller, console, navpad, ...). The node writes its cfg and reboots into the role. - CONFIGURE app edits name/facility/role/modules/rswitch outputs on any adopted node. B) Same wizard as the mainframe — press a key during the 8s window and answer the prompts. ## Tokens The wizard generates fresh tokens when the field is left blank. For a cluster where machines must command each other, reuse the SAME token (and admin token) on every node — type them in during setup or set them via CONFIGURE. Adopted nodes inherit the mainframe's tokens automatically.
